New Beginnings

Here it is a New Year!!! I think that every day is a new beginning so January 1 is a new beginning too. Jonathan and Brenda arrived and it was so wonderful last night to stay up and talk to them. We got caught up on somethings and will continue to do that as days go by. They are so wonderful and it is great having them with us. They will stay with us until they can find a place. I am so excited that it is now a week end and I can be with them. Our daughter and her family will come over for Sunday lunch. They will all meet each other and we will play games and enjoy getting to know each other. I will let you know what is happening after that.

Drama Class

We are so happy here. Not that we don't miss everyone in Colorado but we know that we are in the right place. A while back Kim our daughter had told us about a homeschool opportunity that we or one of us could teach a class. The class can be on anything that we think would benefit the homeschoolers. I have decided to teach a Drama class for girls ages 8 - 12. I know it will be a lot of work but this is going to be a great opportunity. I will keep you posted on that. The following is part of the description for the class:

Not only will the class present a play but they will gain a well-rounded knowledge of the theatre. We will learn terms, etiquette, voice, costuming, makeup and find out much more knowledge of the theatre operation. The experience will allow each child the confidence that they can produce their own production or audition for other performances in the church or community. Guest speakers are also planned. My goal is for the girls to comfortably be in front of an audience and take direction. They will also learn how to perform the director’s responsibilities and function backstage to see how all the roles work together. The last class will be the presentation of the play that will hopefully be in another location that has a stage. We will also have a reception and autographing after the performance to complete the experience.

Sounds like fun. If you were here you could be one of my guest speakers. I do not know how many students I will have but hopefully 10 or more. 3 will be our granddaughters.

Well, I will go for today. Talk to you soon.

My First BLOG

Wow this is great!! Kendall helped me get my "blog" set up. Now I just hope someone checks it out. I guess I will need to let people know it's here though.

I have been a little frustrated this week...since I have had a really bad cold/cough. I know I've already got it, my healing I mean. But for some reason I have really suffered through this one.

Kendall and I have been looking for a job for a few weeks now. It has been really difficult and we have only worked one half day. He has a job next week with the Carolina Ballet. He will work from 2 until 11pm, Tues, Wed, Friday and Sat and on Sunday afternoon. So that will help. The jobs are with a Temp agency. I have never had such a hard time finding a job. It has just been HARD. I know that the "right" job is just waiting for me and for Kendall but meanwhile, we are continuing to look for the "right" job. We know God has already provided for us everything we need.

Well, I guess this is my blog for tonight. Thanks for reading. Hopefully I will add pics soon.

Why Mimi's Garden

I have been thinking and I have decided that I need to explain why "Mimi's Garden". Some of you know that my mom and dad owned a flower shop business (Reiser's Florist in Clovis, NM) when I was growing up. Then over the years I have had some great experiences cultivating, planting and growing things. And now, even though we are renting a place in Wake Forest, NC I dream often of having a garden. In fact, I have over the years prayed that someone would have planted things such as grapes and asparagus some where and I would buy that land. There would already be grapes and asparagus and maybe even other things too growing. Since those things take some years to mature this person would have already planted them for me. Anyway, that is the reason for Mimi's Garden.

In Johnson City, TN about 10 years ago we had a vertical garden and it produced some of the most wonderful tomatoes and peppers you could ever grow. We planted everything we could think of and some of it did great and some not so good. That is what a garden is to me. You learn by doing and somethings you want to repeat and some of the plants broke the pots ( like onions and celery) but we were glad we tried all of it.

That is why I decided on Mimi's Garden. Not that the Blog will only be about gardening but you have to come up with a name and that is something that is dear to me.

I will also be talking about life as I know it. I have a dream one that has been with me for many years and just has gotten better the longer I think about it. It is THE GATHERING PLACE. Do you have a dream and have you written it down and are you beginning to see it come together? Well, come along with me as I let you in on my dream and watch to see how God puts it together.

Hey, thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you soon. Mimi
